The SANTA ROSA ISLAND FIRE continues to burn on the Island, located on the south side of Santa Rosa Island, between Ford and South Points, which ignited on May 15, 2026, at 1619 hours PDT. This is located in the Channel Islands (on National Park lands).

This is a human-caused wildfire, which is still under investigation.

Today, the fire has burned about 18,379 acres. It is currently 87% contained.

About 138 total firefighters remain assigned to this incident, along with three (2) crews from the National Park Service and the U.S. Wildfire Service.

Three (3) structures have been lost, and causing a total of 1.8 million dollars in expenses to date for fire suppression and containment efforts.
