SIT REP 1: 1908 PDT
The GARRED ROAD FIRE is burning in Dry Falls Junction (Douglas County), Washington State, about 2.5 miles northwest of Coulee City and north of Soap Lake, Washington State, in the area of Dry Falls Junction in Douglas and Grant Counties, Washington State. The State’s Fire Marshal has approved an emergency deployment of resources through the State Mobe operational plan.
This is Incident #WAWES-26060.
The original cause is unknown, but the second fire is related to rekindling from the first fire put out the day prior.
Current weather conditions: Temps: 79*F, Sunny skies, 9.9-mile visibility, 29.95 in pressure, 38 AQI, 7 UV, which is considered high, and the low will be down to 56*F this evening.
Incident Summary: The fire rekindled late this morning around 1000 hours PDT. The original cause is unknown and under investigation. It is burning about 2.5 miles northwest of Coulee City and north of Soap Lake, Washington. Fire and Law Enforcement Officials state they observed the wildfire moving to the southeast, jumping Highway 17 and rapidly spreading towards nearby the Sun Lakes Resort area.
Current Status: 3,500 acres. 0% contained. WA Mobe resources have been approved for deployment to Grant and Douglas Counties. Multiple assets are either currently on the fire line in staging, active fire suppression and containment operations, or en route. (PLEASE REMEMBER TO PULL TO THE RIGHT FOR LIGHTS/SIRENS).
Current Status: The fire has burned about 3,500 acres and is said to have tripled in size within a matter of hours, prompting a large fire response. The State Fire Marshal’s Office, through the Washington State Patrol, has been authorized to deploy resources from all over the State of Washington. Some of these Counties include:
