INCIDENT SUMMARY

WASHINGTON STATE — The KAISER CANYON FIRE is burning about one mile south of Nespelem on lands managed by the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation in Okanogan County.

The lightning-caused wildfire started on July 16, 2026.

CURRENT STATUS

  • Level 1-3 evacuations in effect.
  • Structures threatened, including a town.
  • 110,335 acres.
  • 13% contained.

  • 16 crews
  • 28 engines
  • 2 helicopters.
  • Northern Rockies Team 2 (CIMT)
  • Tolman Fire Center
  • Nespelem School
  • North Whidbey Wildland Fire (were part of State Mobe for a short period of time)

INCIDENT FUNDING

FEMA has approved a secondary declaration under the Fire Management Grant program on July 17, 2026.

Fire Officials just issued additional Level 3 (GO NOW) Evacuations, including the town of Nespelem.

SHELTER

A Shelter has been opened at the Nespelem School.

THREATENED

  • 1,396 homes.
  • 150 multi-purpose residential structures
  • 20 non-residential structures

DAMAGE ASSESSMENT

  • 22 homes lost
  • 18 minor structures destroyed
  • CTD: 11.1 million dollars.
