Eastside Fire and Rescue is currently looking for men and women who wish to become Volunteer Firefighters for their local communities.

Minimum Requirements

  • MUST be at least 18 years old
  • MUST have a Hight School Diploma or GED
  • MUST live within Fire District or 5 miles of Fire Stations
  • MUST speak, write and understand the English Language
  • MUST be a U.S. citizen or have the authority to work in the U.S.
  • MUST possess and maintain a Valid WA Driver’s License
  • MUST pass Agency pre-hire background, psychological eval, medical physical & drug screening.

Responsibilities 

Essential Job Functions:

1. Respond promptly, when available, to requests for service.

2. Provide medical assistance to sick and injured persons.

3. Assist in the transport of sick or injured persons.

4. Assist in the suppression of fires, hazardous materials mitigation, rescues, and other duties as assigned.

5. Drive and operate emergency vehicles according to specific position assignments, and according to policy.

6. Communicate effectively with and without radios.

7. Participate in assigned station activities.

8. Participate in regular and special drills and training.

9. Regular study of job training manuals, SOPs, and Agency literature.

10. Accept orders from command personnel and perform required tasks.

11. Maintain a high level of station and personal appearance.

12. Perform preventive maintenance as assigned.

13. Serve primarily in the first due area of assignment.

14. Accomplish quarterly Volunteer Skill Experience Training (VSET) requirements.

ABOUT EASTSIDE FIRE AND RESCUE

Eastside Fire and Rescue was formed in 1999, as an area fire resource when three Cities [Carnation, Issaquah and North Bend] and 2 Fire Protection Districts [#10 & #38] and #10] pooled their skills, knowledge, experience and resources creating one cost-effective Fire Agency.

Service Areas

EF&R’ s service area is a 191-square mile area with a population of 113,801 residents.

It’s District is in the Eastern portion of Washington State.  It has many borders.

  • Eastern:  Snoqualmie Pass.
  • Southern:  Kittitas County.
  • Western:  Duvall, Bellevue, Redmond.
  • Northern:  Duvall-King County Fire Protection #45.

The Fire Agency provides many services to its residents with some are more technical and require more training from Firefighters.

  • 4 Command units

  • 1 Wildfire Truck [Owned by WA DNR]
  • 1 Air unit
  • 1 Mobile Ops Comm Van
  • 15 Fire Engines

  1. Current Dept of Licensing Complete driving record [abstract] by going to the Washington State DMV website:  http://www.dol.wa.gov/driverslicense/drivingrecord.html. Cost is $13.00.
  2. Without the Driving record info with your Application, it will be REJECTED.
  3. Mail Application and Driving record info to: Eastside Fire & Rescue, ATTN: Human Resources, 175 Newport Way NW, Issaquah, WA 98027 by JUNE 15, 2015.

Medical Physicals (conducted at HealthForce in Bellevue) August 3rd – August 21st
Academy Begins Early September
