#SunlandFire Strike Team Makes Progress – May 30, 2016 AM Update

Incident Summary

A wildfire erupted around 1500 hours on Saturday said to have occurred near a popular hiking trail in the area, prompting Level 3 Evacuations.

The GCSO said that the fire was not threatening any crops or the nearby Sasquatch event at the Gorge Amphitheater.

As of this morning, the fire has burned 1,000 acres and is considered as 10% contained. Fire crews will work to complete dozer lines around the fire and conduct mop-up operations.

Evacuation

Around 1530 hours, there was a Level 3 Evacuation issued by the Grant County Sheriffs Office for 10 homes in the Old Vantage Highway and I-90 area.

Mutual Aid Responding

A County-wide page for Grant County fire agencies and equipment to respond.  Quickly following this request, the IC would request a State Mobe of additional resources within Washington State.

Weather Conditions

Current temps are 62-degrees, 32% humidity with no winds and no rain as this morning’s weather update. This definitely should assist Strike Teams in getting an easier handle on the wildfire.
