A wildfire incident ignited named the BECKY PEAK FIRE was sparked on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at 1100 hours today.
It is located about 50 miles north of Ely, Nevada in the Becky Peak Wilderness, a steep, rugged and inaccessible terrain.
The fire has burned 600 acres of timber, brush, and chaparral. There is a zero percent containment status.
Fire behavior is extreme with crowning, wind-driven runs, and uphill runs.
Resources include 49 total firefighters, six engines, three water tenders, and a bulldozer, along with two single-engine air tankers (SEATs) and a Type 3 copter. Three Type 2 IA hand crews and a Type hand crew are en route from the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, Ely Ranger District, and private contractors as mutual assistance to the BLM fire agency.
The Incident Commander is Holmes, a Type 3 IC.
The cause is undetermined.
