A structure fire extended into the wildland-urban interface, which ignited a wildfire in the area of Corey and Foothill Roads outside of White City, Oregon. ODF SW Oregon District fire resources and assets responded as mutual aid to Fire District 3.

It was reported in the beginning as a three-to-four acre fire in size. Numerous engines as well as their Type 3 helicopter responded, with a Type 2 copter on order and said to be en route.
Just past 1800 hours (1815 hours to be exact), fire resources were able to stop the forward progression of the fire and hold the fire to burning an estimated five acres.

Firefighters will remain on the scene for several hours as multiple spot fires and windy conditions became today’s challenges for them. They are currently mopping up and on fire watch to make sure fuels don’t rekindle.
