UPDATE 1 – Saturday, October 29, 2022

0915: The DIAMOND WATCH FIRE was ignited on July 14, 2022, around 0600 hours MDT by lightning. It is located about five miles west of Nordman, Idaho in the Diamond Peak area. It is also burning near Pend Oreille County in Washington State.

It had some increased smoke activity this week which could be seen from ID Highway 57 near Nordman, ID. It is burning below the eastern slope of Diamond Peak. 

There have been about 1,429 acres of timber (litter and understory), brush, and larger areas of heavier fuels under a dense canopy.

Fire behavior has been observed as minimal fire backing, creeping, and smoldering.

There is a 65% containment status achieved at this time.

A Type 4 IC – Hirst is at the helm of this wildfire incident.

The Lead Fire Agency is the Idaho Panhandle National Forest Fire Division.

According to Fire Officials, planned actions include continuing to monitor the fire edge as it approaches FS road 308. Take action to keep the fire from crossing roads on the South, East, and West, and Diamond Creek on the North.

There is 16 personnel assigned to this incident.
