Today, the Fire Service world began sharing news of the passing of a TV Actor and Hero in the Fire Service World, Randolph Mantooth.

Randy Mantooth passed away on Saturday morning and was the beloved actor in the TV Show, Emergency! back in the 1970s with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. He played the character John “Johnny” Gage from 1972 to 1977.

His partner was Roy DeSoto, played by Kevin Tighe in Emergency!

According to local media, “the character helped introduce the American public to the then‑new profession of paramedics, influencing EMS development nationwide” – http://www.ibtimes.sg

According to the real-life Los Angeles County Fire Department, they say he was also a great friend and supporter of their Department and Fire Museum. RIP
