Fire Rips Through DT Tacoma


Tacoma Firefighters were dispatched to a commercial structure fire call in the 1600 block of Tacoma Avenue South and quickly arrived to the downtown incident on the night of July 4, 2021.

First due units reported a fully engulfed structure around 2012 hours, quickly transitioning into a defensive fire attack strategy, while working to protect exposure buildings during this 2nd alarm fire.

The cause is currently under investigation.

TFD Responds to Late Night Apt Fire

TACOMA, WASHINGTON | March 18, 2021 | 0040 PT

Firefighters were dispatched at 2352 hours PT on Monday, May 17, night to an apartment complex for a working and active fire reported on they sixth floor in the 500 block of South 7th Street.

First due units arrived confirmed a working and active fire in a single unit on the sixth floor.

Within eight minutes of being on-scene, the fire was quickly knocked down and crews immediately vented the unit and checking for extensions.

Additional units were requested by Command for manpower but were later released after first due units had knocked down the fire. Some first alarm units were also being placed back in service.

Almost 20 minutes on the incident timer, firefighters successfully put the fire out.

No injuries to firefighters was reported. One occupant was injured and rescued by crews to awaiting Medics for treatment. His/Her condition is unknown at this time.

The cause is under investigation and no preliminary update has been given by Fire Officials.

Tacoma Firefighters Respond to Back to Back Fires

Tacoma Firefighters responded to an early evening fire on Friday  (May 22nd) to a boarded up and vacant home in the 4600 block of South Thompson Avenue in Pierce County, Washington State.

Fire was reported as having originated in the garage and was quickly knocked down.  It has been released if accidental, arson or another cause.

The following afternoon (Saturday, May 23, 2020), firefighters were dispatched to a fire inside a fenced area in the 2500 block of Jefferson Avenue in Tacoma around 1330 hours PT.  Fire again was knocked down quickly.

This was ruled arson and Tacoma Police arrested and booked a 56-year old male.  He has been charged with Arson in the 2nd Degree.  No injuries were reported.

Tacoma Firefighters Respond to House Fire

Firefighters were dispatched to a house fire late Friday evening, February 7, 2020 to the 1900 block of S Hosmer Street in Tacoma, Washington.  Resources arrived on-scene quickly at 2246 hours PST and reported smoke visible.

Crews engaged in fire attack operations on the structure immediate and got it knocked down.  The fire was deemed to have originated and confined to just the basement of the single-family residence.

No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported.

There was no initial cause released at the time of this posting.
