South King Fire & Rescue is currently recruiting for Probationary Firefighter/EMT. FireTEAM test results must be completed by December 31, 2013. Passing CPAT notices are due by no later than January 17, 2014 to advance on to the Chiefs Interview.
Following the closing date, South King Fire will contact applicants who are selected to participate in the hiring process. All hiring events will take place at South King Fire & Rescue Headquarters in Federal Way Washington.
Candidates who are selected to interview must be available during all of the scheduled hiring event dates that follow:
• January 13 and 14, 2014 – Prescreen Interviews
• January 16 and 17, 2014 – Oral Board Interviews
• January 21 and 22, 2014 – Chief of Operations Interview
• January 25, 2014 – Ride-Along with Crew Members
• January 27, 2014 – Social Events with Crew Members
Tentative offers of employment will be extended by the end of January 2014. Employment offers will be contingent upon successful passing of a background check, medical and psychological examination and drivers abstract free of serious or frequent violations. Salary Information: $5,772.96 per month plus a full benefit package

Department Overview: South King Fire & Rescue has provided Fire and Emergency services to King County residents since 1949. The Department employs 129 full time Firefighters and Officers, 8 division head Fire Chiefs and 15 support staff members. We take pride in our work and community, and strive to exceed customer expectations.
South King Fire & Rescue Firefighters are Union Represented under IAFF Local 2024. The Department has 7 responding Fire Stations, a Training Station and a Prevention Division.
In addition to Fire and Emergency services, many Department members serve on one or more of the three Special Teams. We have a Marine Team, a Technical Rescue Team and a Hazardous Materials Team. A number of Department members also serve on the federal FEMA Urban Search and Rescue Team.
The combined efforts of our Fire Service Members serving in multiple capacities helps our public enjoy a safer community.
District Overview: South King Fire & Rescue proudly serves the communities of Federal Way and Des Moines Washington. The District covers 41 square miles and services 150,000 citizens. The Department responds to approximately 16,000 emergency calls per year. South King Fire & Rescue is one of only three Departments in Washington State that hold a Class 2 Insurance Rating.
Portions of the District are located on Puget Sound waters, which are serviced by the Department’s Marine Team utilizing our newly refurbished Fire Boat.

Job Requirements: Must be age 21 or older, a U.S. citizen or lawfully able to work in the United States, a H.S. grad or a GED, a valid Washington State Driver’s License and have the ability to read & speak English.
Vision will be tested during the Departmental medical exam.
