The Gibbon Wildfire is located 20 miles East of Pendleton, Oregon and near Meacham Creek / Stumbough Ridge. It was ignited by lightning passing over the area.
It has consumed 155 acres of timber, brush and short grass has reached a 20% containment status.
The fire behavior is minimal with backing. The terrain is very rugged and fire crews have had difficulties fighting the fire.
There are 60 personnel along with The Grande Hotshot crew alongside with the support of 1 Type 1 helicopter, 1 Type 2 helicopter, 1 Type 2 hand crew, and 4 engines.
The cost-to-date for this fire is $279,000.00.
