The Rough Ride Fire reportedly started on October 16, 2016 around 3:15 PM PST from lightning. The fire is located 13 miles West of Blue Ridge and on the Cohutta Wilderness area on the Chattahoochee National Forest in California.
About 10,336 acres have been scorched mixed shrub understory, pine needles and leaf litter.
Fire crews have successfully reached a 20% containment status.
There are 296 personnel assigned to this incident including 9 crews, 2 helicopters, 7 engines and 2 dozers.
Fire behavior is being fueled by rugged terrain and extreme drought conditions. The fire is said to be following ridges Westward and flanking to the North and South, creeping and smoldering in shaded areas and back down Southward.
