SASCO FIRE | AZ WILDFIRE | UPDATE 2 (FINAL)

UPDATE 2 (FINAL)  – MAY 3, 2020 – SUNDAY

A wildfire named the SASCO FIRE is burning in Pinal County, Arizona.  It is NORTH of Ironwood Forest National Forest, SOUTH of Red Rock and just WEST of Picacho.

AZ State Firefighters were dispatched on Sunday, May 3, 2020, at 1038 hours MST. Additional fire crews from BLM Arizona Fire have also been deployed to the fire line.

Equipment/Apparatus on-scene, Chief 191, E191, Tender 191, Brush 193, E361, Chief 7-1.

A VLAT dropped over the SASCO FIRE with a  Heavy Air Tanker following due to rocky and unstable terrain on the southern side of the fire.  Crews are starting to make good progress and mopping up.

This has been determined to be human-caused.  It is still under investigation.

SASCO FIRE | AZ WILDFIRE | UPDATE 1

UPDATE 1 – MAY 3, 2020 – SUNDAY

A wildfire named the SASCO FIRE is burning in Pinal County, Arizona.  It is NORTH of Ironwood Forest National Forest, SOUTH of Red Rock and just WEST of Picacho.

AZ State Firefighters were dispatched on Sunday, May 3, 2020, at 1038 hours MST. Additional fire crews from BLM Arizona Fire have also been deployed to the fire line.

Equipment/Apparatus on-scene, Chief 191, E191, Tender 191, Brush 193, E361, Chief 7-1.

Fire behavior was observed by SASCO IC as doubling in size at one point due to increased winds

Smoke is being reportedly as seen from as far aways as Interstate 10.

Around 1230 MST, it was estimated to be 40 acres in size with an unknown containment status.

Crews backed off the fire line at 1415 hours, to allow an inbound VLAT to drop in their area. They used a nearby road for safety. (1419 MST)

May 23, 2019

The Sasco Fire name was used when a wildfire broke out at 0432 AM UTC near Red Rock, Arizona, about 80 miles SSE of Phoenix. 16.6 acres. Human caused.

FINAL UPDATE – 5/3/2020 – SUNDAY

INCIDENT SUMMARY

Arizona State Forestry wildland firefighters were dispatched to the STAGE FIRE on Satruday, May 2nd this afternoon to a brush fire that ignited approximately 1.5 miles northeast of New River and east of I-17.  This is located in Maricopa County, Arizona.

A smoke column could be see from the Arizona I17 SB Anthem web cam.

There has been 259 acres of grass and brush burned.  Crews have successfully gained a 75% containment status.

The fire was deemed to be human-caused by two Fire Investigators.  The investigation is still considered as an active case.

INCIDENT SUMMARY

Arizona State Forestry wildland firefighters were dispatched to the STAGE FIRE on Satruday, May 2nd this afternoon to a brush fire that ignited approximately 1.5 miles northeast of New River and east of I-17.  This is located in Maricopa County, Arizona.

A smoke column could be see from the Arizona I17 SB Anthem web cam.

It is burning in a wash in grass and brush.

I17 NB is closed at New River.  All traffic has to exit at New River. AZ DOT is reporting an 8-mile backup starting near Anthem Way. There is no ETA on when it will be reopend. Southbound lanes are open and unaffected.  Traveler info:  az511.gov or calling 511. Twitter:  @ArizonaDOT.

UPDATE 1 – 4/26/2020 – SUNDAY

A fire is burning on the Unita-Wasatch-Cache National Forest in Davis County, north of Farmington Canyon and south of Farmington City, Utah.

Six Farmington City and Kaysville Firefighters will hike up the steep and difficult terrain to the fire ground

Cause is a suspected downed power line, says a Davis County Sheriffs Office spokesman.

NEW CA WILDFIRE | BAR FIRE | 1

DOUGLAS CITY, CALIFORNIA

Update 1 – Sunday, April 26, 2020

A wildfire named the BAR FIRE ignited on Saturday, April 25th off Bar K Rd & Shady Creek Lane in Trinity County.

CAL FIRE Shasta-Trinity Unit is the lead Fire Agency.

45 acres have burned.

There is a 50% containment status.

The cause is unknown and CAL FIRE Investigators are investigating.

BAR FIRE NAME HISTORY

NOVEMBER 12, 2019

A 3-day RX fire burns and jumps its containment lines and scorches an additional 10 – 20 acres located on the BarM Ranch, south of Los Alamos (Santa Barbara County), California.

SEPTEMBER 15, 2019

Firefighters respond to Mill Creek Drainage on the Salmon/Scott District., southwest of Bald Mountain and Klamath Bar in the Klamath National Forest in Skiskiyou County, California.

Evacuation orders were in effect for the Scott Bar area and residences in the Miller Creek Drainage. At this time, the fire has burned 30 acres of land.

Fire reported near Highway 101 (above Refugio Beach) and Refugio in Santa Barbara County, Cailfornia. Mutliple structures threatened.

Evacuation orders for the Refugio area between Coal Canyon and Refinery were downgraded to shelter-in-place.  Farmers were seen moving horses out of areas to safer locations.

Truckee Meadows Firefighters Egress on Abandoned Car Fire

WASHOE COUNTY, NV. — Truckee Meadows Fire Protection  District firefighters were dispatched to fire of an abandoned vehicle in a rural area on Sunday, April 26, 2020.

Fire had spread into the wildfire interface  prompting fire resources and assets to be dispatched to an area at the end of 9th Avenue in Sun Valley, Arizona.

Units quickly egressed and containing the fire to .10 of an acre.

No structures were damaged.

No injuries to citizens or to firefighters were reported.

Cause of the fire are unknown.

AZ Wildfire Activity | Dike Fire | 1

MOHAVE COUNTY, ARIZONA

Update 1 – April 25, 2020 – Saturday

A wildfire ignited on BIA land in the Havasu Wildfire Regue located in the Mohave Valley area in Arizona, prompting an immediate response from AZ State Forestry firefighters.

The wildland incident has been named the DIKE FIRE.

The fire was reportedly have broke out on Saturday, April 25th just after 2100 hours PT.

Wildland Fire Ignites in Grant County, Washington State

GRANT COUNTY, WASHINGTON  – A small wildfire has ignited near the 150 block of Wagon Road in the Palisades in Grant County Fire District 13’s  area.

Fire crews have contained the fire to 10 acres and due to the steep terrain will have extensive mop-up to conduct.
