This wildfire started on July 13th around 1530 hours from an unknown cause. It is currently being investigated.
Location
It is located 31 miles South of Cloudcroft (Otero County), New Mexico. Burning on private land.
Fire Size / Damage Assessment
As of July 13th, fire was at 100 acres with an unknown containment. Today on July 15th, the fire has reached 290 acres with a 16% containment status, but not before fire damaged or destroyed 67 homes, 16 vehicles, 4 RVs and 1 Timberon VFD Engine due to being broken down from a mechanical issue.
RESOURCES
Command
A Type 3 has moved into a Type 4 Management team as of 7/15/2016 @ 0600 hours.

There are 160 resources from various agencies, which consist of Engines, hand crews and Air resources.
Evacuation Shelter
A Red Cross evacuation shelter was opened at the Cloudcroft High School.

Fire Fuels
Fire fuels consist of mixed forest grass and shrub understory.
Future Tactics
Fire crews will continue to secure containment lines. They will also cut and clear snag around homes in burned areas.
Weather Conditions
Temps have been in the high 80’s up to the low 90’s. There is a forecast for a chance of a thunderstorm with strong erratic winds and light rain.
