Washington State Wildfire | Lower Beaver Creek Fire | 3 | Correction

UPDATE | Firefighters have successfully reached a 100% containment as of 2010 hours PDT.  The number of acres and personnel will be updated after information has been received from the WA  DNR PIO. – 2115 PDT

TWISP, Wash. – Around 1550 hours, fire assets from Okanogan County Fire District 6, WA DNR and the US Forest Service  (B41, E644, H338, SO221, SO223, SO242, SO244 and SO246) were dispatched through the Central Washington Interagency Communications Center for a reported three acre wildfire.

The fire was previously named the Benson Creek Fire but has since been changed.  The new wildfire name is the Lower Beaver Creek Fire.

The fire is said to be about 3-5 acres. No word on the containment status has been received.

No injuries to firefighters or civilians have been reported.


The fire is located on Benson Creek Road in Okanogan County and southeast of Twisp, which a small town with less than 1,000 residents.  The town is made up of 1.18 square miles with all of it being land.


Fire caused by lightning.


WA DNR dispatched an engine, two planes and a helicopter.

There is no formal information stating how many fire crews are assigned to this incident.


Fire fuels include light timber, brush and grass.

Fire Tactics

Heli bucket drops were called in and have greatly impacted the fire . Crews have advanced hose and have water on the fire.

Temps in the area are 81*F with partly cloudy skies and winds at 10 mph.  The relative humidity or RH. as some call it is at 34%.
