US Wildfire Log | Large Incidents | August 15, 2019

Fire Season has been fairly active in some states, while others are slowly burning.  Here is a current Sit Rep for all fires currently burning or have recently ignited. They are being listed by the acre burned, state and then by the fire name.

Fire Fact: There has been 22 new wildfires that have ignited in the Northwest area in the last 24 hours.  One of them turned into a large incident, while there are still 7 wildfires still burning in this area.

45,359 acres | Washington State | Williams Flats Fire

The Williams Flats Fire is burning about 5 miles southeast of Keller.  Fire behavior is minimal with smoldering and creeping. Road and area closures are still in effect. Evacuation orders have all been lifted.  Command was transferred from an IMT2 (NW Team 8) back to the local unit as of today’s date.

There have been 45,359 acres that have been destroyed.  There is an 81% containment status.  According to the NIFC, there are 679 total personnel assigned along with 16 crews, 21 engines and 2 helicopters.

There have been 3 structures lost and a total losses have reached $14.2 Million Dollars.

13,119 acres | Oregon | Mile Post 97 Fire

The Mile Post 97 Fire is located 1 mile south of Canyonville and is being managed by the Oregon Department of Forestry firefighters.  About 13,119 acres of timber have been lost.  Fire behavior is minimal.   There is a 95% containment status at the moment.

There are 106 total personnel assigned along with 2 crews, 6 engines and 1 helicopter.

Total losses have reached a whopping $20 Million Dollars.

Fire Fact:  There have been 26 new wildfires that have been sparked in the the Great Basin  Area in the last 24 hours, with two of them being large incidents and 5 of them still listed as being not contained.

16,526 acres | Nevada | Corta Fire

The Corta Fire is burning in the Elko District of BLM lands and about 8 miles southeast of Jiggs, Nevada.  The fire has destroyed 16,526 acres of timber, brush and tall grass.  Fire behavior has been reduced down to minimal activities with possibility of any future growth.   The current containment status is 98%.

There are approximately 40 total personnel  along with 1 crew, 1 engine and no additional resources.  Total losses have reached $3.3 Million Dollars.

1,383 acres | Nevada | NEW Wood Canyon Fire

The Wood Canyon Fire ignited in the last 24 hours as being reported by Fire Managers to be located in the Carson City District of BLM.  It is located about 75 miles south of Winnemucca, Nevada.

Approximately 1,383 acres of timber, chaparral and short have been destroyed and there is only a 5% containment status. Fire behavior is active fire behavior with running, torching and spotting.

About 196 fire personnel and resources, along with 5 crews, 4 engines and 3 helicopters are deployed on this fire.

Costs have reached $250,000 to date.

505 acres | Utah | NEW Trumbull Fire

This NEW fire started within the last 24 hours and is being included to the possibility of becoming a large wildfire incident.  This fire is located in the Arizona Strip District on BLM lands and about 52 miles southeast of St. George, Utah.

There has been 505 acres of timber and light logging slash consumed.  There is a 0% containment status at this time.

Only 38 fire personnel are assigned to this incident but with the aid of 1 crew, 2 engines and 1 helicopter.

Current cost-to-date have reached $50,000.

Due to time constraints, we were unable to list all active large incidents but another update will be on Friday, August 15, 2019.
