SIT REP 1 | SEPTEMBER 14, 2020

The ARCHIE CREEK FIRE is burning 20 miles east of Glide and Roseburg in the north Umpqua drainage on the west slope of the Cascades.

The fire broke out and quickly spread to state, private and federal lands in the State of Oregon on September 9, 2020 from an unknown cause. It is currently under investigation.

Fire behavior is active with long-range spotting, group torching and with short crown runs.  It has destroyed 121,379 acres of timber and brush but crews have reached a 15% containment status.

There are 1,835 homes and 7 other structures that have been damaged.  Destroyed structures include 111 residences and 2 others.

Crews will continue working on reinforcing primary and secondary containment lines.  Structure protection remains in place.

Air operations were grounded for another day due to heavy smoky conditions in the area.

Firefighters and ODOT crews alongside the Pacific Power crews will continue to remove hazard trees, checking for downed power lines and other debris from roadways along Hwy 138E.

The Douglas County Sheriff Office held a private information drop-in meeting today from 1500 – 1900 hours (3-7pm) at Glide HS to learn about structural damage to their property and resources available to them.

This was only for residents in the Moore Hill Lane, Susan Creek Road, Star Mountain lane, Smith Springs Lane, Evergreen Springs Lane, Hone Creek Road, Tioga lane, Rock Creek (all sides of the road), North Umpqua Hwy from Rock Creek Road to Steam boat, Klahanie Lane, Skyview Drive, Lone Rock Road, South Lone rock, Road, Bar L Ranch Road (all sides road), Terrace Drive, Upper Terrace lane, Mystic Mountain Lane and Evergreen Lane.
