Thank you for reading our post about one the newest Wildfires in Washington State.  This fire was first stated this afternoon but it took us awhile to glean all the facts before letting you all know.  We are all about trying to get it right the first time.

INCIDENT SUMMARY

The Suncrest Fire started on Saturday, August 27th @ 1530 hours from an unknown cause.  The fire is located just East of beautiful Leavenworth in Chelan County, Washington State.

Currently, the wildfire has consumed over 250 acres of brush, grass and timber.  It is listed at a 0% containment status.

Current conditions are active fire behavior with a high ROS.

EVACUATIONS

Level 3 Evacuations

Evacuations are in effect on the North side of North Road, from Fox Road to Anderson Canyon.  The Public was asked not to enter the area unless you are a homeowner.

110 residents were at a Level 3 evacuation between Anderson Canyon and Fox Road.

60 residents were also at a Level 3 evacuation on the South side of the North Road.

Level 2 Evacuations

Police were going door-to-door for Level 2 evacuations in the Town of Peshastin and West to Anderson Canyon that also included Alpine View Estates on Chumstick.

Cell Service

The Main Verizon Cell Tower was said to be out of service and probably out for much of Leavenworth and Peshastin.

Utilities

Chelan PUD sent out a message over Twitter that power had been restored to everyone in Leavenworth and Lake Wenatchee areas.

Fire mobilization has been approved.  Firefighters from the #SpokaneComplex wildfire are demobing from this incident and are being reassigned to this wildfire, #SuncrestFire.

Currently, this wildfire has 24 engines, 4 water tenders, 1 Type 1 rotor, 1 Type 2 rotor and 4 air tankers.

The Pioneer Fire located eight miles North of Idaho City, Idaho on July 18th @ 1700 hours was ignited by an unknown cause.  It has been burning on the Boise National Forest for almost a full month still has active fire behavior with group tree torching and short crown runs.

About 68,893 acres have been consumed but firefighters have gained a 40% containment status.

There are 1,792 personnel assigned to this incident along with the aid of 54 crews and air resources:  2 scooper planes; helos – 4 heavy, 5 medium, 3 light and 55 engines, 10 bulldozers, 21 water tenders, 8 masticators and 2 skidders.

Fire fact:  On June 28, a large fire whirl formed near six members of the Navajo Interagency Hotshot Crew (IHC), entrapping them. Maalaea –   Fire started 7/3/2016. Wind-driven. 6,000 acres.  West Maui and South Maui residents are mostly without power. Officials said power began to be restored in West Maui at around 4 p.m. 0% containment status. Red Cross shelter opened at Maui War Memorial in Wailuku and the Lahaina Civic Center in West Maui.  Fire burning on top of the West Maui mountains and is creeping down towards Ukumehame.

MONTANA

The Northern Rockies which includes the State of Montana reported 8 NEW fires with 2 not contained fires (Observation and Ravalli Hill #2 Fires) and have 1 Type 1 IMT committed to their area.

Fire Storm 2016 | CA’s #PonyFire | June 12, 2016 – AM Update

Incident Summary

The Pony Fire ignited on June 7, 2016 around 0245 Hours PDT from lightning.  This wildfire is located on the Happy Camp Ranger District, about 1/2 mile NE of Pony Peak. 15 miles SW of Happy Camp. 17 miles N of Somes Bar. 2.7 miles W of State Highway 96 and the Klamath River.

The fire was active as conditions worsened with being warmer and dry on Saturday crossing over the containment line @ Dillon Creek drainage.  Air resources worked into Saturday evening, which help stop the downhill progression.

The Dillon Creek fire has been 100% contained, but crews will continue to monitor until it has been completely put out.

The Pony wildfire is burning within the perimeter of the 2001 Swillup Fire.

Fire Fuels

The fire has consumed 1,135 acres of litter, dry brush, timer and heavy dead and down snags from previous fires.  Fire crews have successfully reached a 20% containment around the wildfire.

Resources

There are currently 897 fire personnel and support resources on the fire ground.  The fire is being managed by IC Rick Young, a Northern CAL IMT 2 and his unit.
