Washington Wildfire | SR 821 Fires | 2

SELAH, Wash. – Two spot fires were called into Fire Dispatch that were to be 50′ across and 100′ in size at 3703 SR 821 in Yakima County.   A second caller stated they could see smoke on Selah Road and heading up the ridge.

The first arriving engine reported a 2-3 acre fire, with it heading up the ridge.  The fire appeared to be burning near the Burlington Northern RR tracks.

Reports by the IC of explosions were happening within the fire.  The fire was reported to Dispatch as moving into the canyon.

An immediate request for Washington State Patrol to shutdown SR 821, as well as an urgent need for additional resources.

Fire Dispatch began putting through notifications paging out Selah stations 21, 22, 24, 26 and 29, other resources.

Fire resources, including the Kittitas County Strike team and Command Officer previous assigned to the CONRAD FIRE were being released and diverted to this one.

There is no known cause at this time.
