U.S. Active Wildfires – Sept 16 2016

Hello and Thank You for reading our Post about Wildfires in the United States.  They are broken down by each Fire Name.

Looks like some newly reported wildfires in Arizona from a lightning storm that has passed over.

Beaver Creek Fire (CO):  24 miles North of Walden. 38,374 acres. 72% contained. 165 personnel. Cause still under investigation.  Fire behavioral is smoldering, minimal and creeping.

Berry Fire (WY):  19 NW of Moran.  20,801 acres. 119 personnel. No movement on spread of fire. Unknown % for containment.

Broadway Fire (WY):  30 miles NW of Walden.  2120 acres. 10% contained. 33 personnel.  Behavior is minimal, creeping and smoldering.  Crews to continue to monitor and patrol. Cooler temps in the teens in some areas.

Buffalo Fire (WY):  3 miles NE of Tower Junction in Yellowstone National Park.  Being allowed to burn naturally. 12,693 acres.  No # of personnel or resources available. Fire being monitored.

Fly Fire (UT):  5 miles North of Joes Valley.  Lightning caused. 2866 acres. 15% contained. 188 personnel.  Active fire. Crews working to limit growth.

Fulton Fire (AZ):  Mogollon Rim, approximately 25 miles east of Payson.  Nearby communities include Forest Lakes Estates, Colcord Estates and Ponderosa. Resources: four hotshot crews; one Type 2 crew; five engines; two bulldozers; and one Type 3 helicopter.Estates. 6 acres. 165 personnel.  Started 9/12/2016 by lightning.

Maple Fire (WY):  4 miles NNE of town of Yellowstone.  45,377 acres. 90% contained. 215 personnel.  Fire is minimal and creeping.

Ord Fire (AZ):  East of SR 87 / Beeline Hwy approx 1/2 between Fountain Hills / Payson. FS Rd 626 is near MP 223. Ponderosa  Pine. Started 9/11/2016 by lightning. 9 acres.  3 engines and 1- 10 person suppression module. 16 personnel.

Pinchot Fire (AZ):  8.5 miles southeast of Clints Well, Arizona in the Dick Hart Ridge area. Started 8/29/2016 by lightning. No planned action for weekend due to rain over fire ground and little movement.

Rey Fire (CA):  Near White Rock Day Use picnic area. 32,606 acres. 100% contained. 56 personnel. Some areas are smoldering while others near the fire perimeter have open flame.

Silver Creek (CO):  10 miles E of Phippsburg.  322 acres. Unknown status. 17 personnel.

Snake Fire (WY):  18 miles SW of Encampment.  2560 acres. 40% contained. 192 personnel.  Fire is minimal, creeping and smoldering.  Cause still under investigation.

Soberanes Fire (CA):  Soberanes Creek.  108,031 acres. 57% contained. 1473 personnel.  21 hand crews, 89 engines, 19 copters, 9 dozers, 11 water tenders and 2 masticators. Minimal overnight fire activity.  Unstaffed during the night.
